What surprised me most about raising Siberian kittens

I’ve spent a lot of time raising Siberian kittens, and even though I had researched the breed beforehand, there were still several things that surprised me once I started living with them every day.

The first thing that surprised me was how social they are. A lot of people think of cats as independent or aloof, but Siberians really like being around their people. The kittens often follow me from room to room like tiny fluffy shadows just to see what I’m doing. If I sit down, they usually gather nearby, either climbing on my lap or curling up next to me.

Another thing that surprised me was how playful and athletic they are. Even as very young kittens they are already trying to jump, climb, and chase anything that moves. Watching a group of Siberian kittens play together is honestly hilarious. One minute they’re wrestling and pouncing on each other, and the next minute they’re all piled up sleeping like a stack of fluffy pancakes.

Their confidence also stands out. Some kittens from other breeds can be a little shy or cautious, but Siberian kittens tend to be curious about everything. They want to explore new spaces, investigate sounds, and check out anything that appears in their environment.

Another thing I didn’t expect was how expressive they are. They communicate a lot with soft little chirps, trills, and squeaks rather than loud meows. It almost feels like they’re having little conversations with you.

But maybe the biggest surprise has been how quickly people fall in love with them. Families who come to meet the kittens often end up sitting on the floor playing with them for a long time because their personalities are just so engaging.

Raising them has made me appreciate how unique the Siberian breed really is. They’re playful, affectionate, and incredibly entertaining to watch grow.
